Do you own your own mind?

If you are not consciously occupying your brain’s reasoning and thoughts, then who is living in your mind rent free?

Most people I know, operate on “autopilot”.  In other words, their senses take in a filtered version of everything about them, and their survival brain and a range of thought viruses make decisions for them.  The “thinking brain” then desperately finds reasons to validate the choices they have made.

Every moment of every day we are being taught what to think.

Some of those thought programs are “official”, such as school, higher education, religion, parents, peers.  All of those ways of thinking come with a myriad of validations and reasons to think that way.  They also come with explicit or implied consequences for not thinking the way you are TOLD to think, from ostracism to failing a course of study and not being able to work in a particular line of work.

Most of the programs are installed unconsciously and are designed to slip past our conscious filters and enter stealthily.  Much of this is transmitted as part of advertising, or subtly or directly in social media posts, news broadcasts, documentaries and the opinions of influencers.

Our minds observe everything we hear and see, often out of context, and if we are not concentrating on the source of the information, it is saved, categorised with a meaning that supports the already installed beliefs from other sources.

Ultimately, the choices we make, which lead to the actions we take, all have outcomes and consequences.  If we don’t consciously decide who we are and what values represent us, then we land up becoming clones of the predominant climate of the society we live in, and many people spend much time in their twilight years regretting the decisions they made and actions they took without identifying what they really believed in and what was just socially programmed autopilot.

Feelings of stress develop very quickly when we find ourselves trapped in a world of our own choices that does not represent our true inner values, but rather has us hijacked by the belief tenants in your mind.

Our soul is an inner whisper of what is right and wrong for us to live a life where our choices contribute positively to both us and the world around us, and although it never sleeps, it can be drowned out by the loud noises from the freeloading tenants in our mind.

To prevent making choices that are not in alignment with what will contribute to our lives, a simple exercise will keep the mind occupied only by trusted friends.

Any time we are about to make a belief based decision, pause briefly before committing, think about what the effects of the choice and actions will be on our life, the lives of our loved ones, friends and the world around us, and see if that makes us feel lighter, or heavier.

Anything that makes us feel lighter is probably in tune with our inner compass and will contribute positively to our lives, and anything that makes us feel heavier, is probably best avoided.

So time to remove that “To Let” sign from your mind, install a good security filter, and stay in tune with your “gut reaction” to the belief systems you operate from, evicting those that have been installed without your permission.
